The CDC is still in the process of learning just how affective the vaccines will be against the spread of COVID-19. After individuals have been vaccinated, the CDC is still suggesting to follow the precautions – wearing a mask, staying 6 feet apart, avoidance of crowds and inadequately ventilated spaces – in the public until they learn more.
When am I considered fully vaccinated?
2 weeks past the second dose, in a 2-dose series (Phizer or Moderna)
2 weeks past the single dose of a single-dose vaccine (Johnson & Johnson’s)
What can I do now that I’m fully vaccinated?
1. Gather indoors with other fully vaccinated individuals without the requirement of a mask or staying separated by 6 feet.
2. Gather indoors with unvaccinated individuals of any age from one other household without a mask or staying 6 feet apart, unless any of said individuals are at an increased risk for severe sickness from COVID-19.
3. Travel within the United States: without being tested before or after travel, without self-quarantine post travel.
What should I continue to do?
1. The CDC recommends to continue protecting yourself and others, take the precautions when:
- In public.
- Gathering with unvaccinated individuals from more than one other household.
- Visiting an unvaccinated person who has an increased risk of severe sickness or death from COVID-19 or who lives with another person who has an increased risk.
2. Avoid medium or large gatherings.
3. When traveling you will still be required to wear a mask in public transportation (planes, buses, trains, etc) as well as public transportation hubs such as airports and stations.
4. Continue to watch out for symptoms of COVID-19, especially if you have been around a sick individual. If you have symptoms you should be tested and stay home/away from others.
5. Continue to follow the guidance at your workplace.
